Martin prefers to understand a network before changing it. Many small offices have grown in layers: a router supplied with the broadband, a switch added when more desks arrived, a Wi-Fi point bought in a hurry, then Microsoft 365 permissions copied from one user to the next. It may work most days, but nobody can say where the weak point is.
The audit starts with a map. Router model, firewall rules, switch ports, Wi-Fi names, guest access, backup jobs, cloud file locations and admin accounts are recorded before anything is altered. The aim is not to make a thick technical binder. The aim is to give the owner a plain English view of what keeps the office running.
Backup checks are practical. Is there a job running, when did it last pass, who receives the warning, and has a restore been tested recently? Microsoft 365 checks are just as direct: MFA status, risky admin accounts, shared mailbox sprawl, licence waste and whether leavers can still reach old files.
Only after that does Arrow recommend changes. Sometimes the result is a firewall replacement or a Wi-Fi rebuild. Sometimes it is smaller: remove an old admin account, label the cabinet, renew a licence before it expires, or document who holds the domain login. The value is knowing which fix matters first.
What Gets Written Down
Router, Microsoft 365, domain registrar and backup logins.
Office ranges, DHCP notes and anything that should not be changed casually.
Firewall, Wi-Fi, backup and Microsoft 365 renewal points.
What is backed up, where it goes and when it was last restored.
Staff network, guest network and any shared passwords that need removing.
Remote access, port forwards, VPN users and known risks.
Work Turned Away
Arrow does not take domestic home computer repair, one-off residential Wi-Fi, gaming PC builds, component upgrades, overclocking, phone or tablet repairs, unlicensed software, cracked subscriptions, crypto mining rigs or attempts to bypass security controls. Physically damaged hard drive recovery is referred to a specialist lab.
Printer-only callouts are declined unless the printer is part of an existing managed office network. Unsafe cabling, high-level access, drilling through unknown fire barriers and building works need a qualified contractor.
You have a specific fault, a small Microsoft 365 issue, or a one-off visit that can wait 1 to 7 working days.
Your office needs a regular support relationship, priority triage and checks that happen before staff start complaining.
Nobody is sure who owns the router login, whether backups restore, or why the Wi-Fi fails in the same room every week.
